I became a babysitter very young age but knew this wasn’t enough. I became a nanny over the summers during high school and beyond. At 21 I decided to open my home as an in-home daycare. After I decided to go back to school, I got credentialed so that I could work as a preschool teacher. I started working in 1990 as a HeadStart teacher assistant working my way up through the years and retiring in 2005 as a HeadStart childcare teacher. I have worked in many capacities over the years including working collaboratively with Sacramento office of Education, Speech pathology, occupational therapy, as well as Health and nutrition and mental health services using a whole family approach to Teaching. This has included parent mentoring and a whole family service approach to serving low-income families. The goals were early interventions with families to gain stability and education and return to the workforce and whole education practices for children.

I have worked for over 15 years for an ambulance company providing non- emergency medical transportation services, until the company closed its doors in Sacramento area.

I did not stop there at church I formed a preschool playgroup allowing families to take turns watching children in a preschool setting while the families attend mass, as well as a program of school age children to be pulled out to hear bible readings on their level of understanding and having open discussions prior to returning to mass with their families. In 2003 I began taking in foster children and have had 110 children to date. I have worked collaboratively with social services, the courts, casa, counselors, lawyers, and agencies to provide health and safety to those whose families were disrupted and pulled into the system this included working with children 0-18 and their bio families as they work diligently towards reunification.

I worked with foster youth who aged out of the system to encourage a stable positive outcome after their foster experiences. I also worked with young mothers from pregnancy and beyond to assure stability and planning for their new babies so that with assistance we can assist in trying to give their families the best possible start in life. I began a holiday program to match families in need with host families and other agencies to provide for the holidays to serve families who were not able to get holiday assistants elsewhere. And the adventure of mending families through visitation services through this agency. I have worked with children of all ages, ethnic groups, and all levels of need throughout my career. I also am a mother and grandmother and a great- grandmother.
